  8/13/2007 (updated 10/15/08):

At this point, this web page is under construction.  For the time being, what I am going to do is paste in some of my blogs so you can get an idea of my philosophy and expertise:

Dori’s Comments on Affirmations

Day 222_Date:  Friday August 10, 2007

Beginning Comments:

For the last two weeks, I have spent my morning walks working on my Affirmations song.

When I got back from my walk today,  I felt compelled to write an intro to the song I am going to record digitally (probably on the guitar, rather than the uke, as I prefer to sing in a lower key than C or G, and that’s all I know on the uke at this time).

This intro took about an hour, and turned into a recap of what I know about affirmations, what I have learned about them since 1977.

For today, therefore, the blog is the first draft of a webpage I am going to put with my song when I digitally record it:

I have been aware of the power of affirmations more or less since 1977, when I read Jane Robert’s Nature of Personal Reality.  In that book, however, Seth, the being Jane channeled, was clear that his book was on theory and not methodology.

From the beginning, I resonated to his words, and had a sense that my beliefs were creating a pretty nasty reality, but had no idea of how to deal with them.  My first construct, if you want to call it that, was to learn how.  Within a month of reading the book, I saw an ad in the paper, which led me, in the following spring (1978), to attending a class called the Inner Power Institute, led by a metaphysical psychologist.

It was there that I learned one must consciously know what a belief is before you can change it.  Over the years,  I  have also learned there are ‘levels’ to any belief, and many are interconnected, so to face one may alter another.  Beliefs are tricky devils, because they are also connected to bodily emotions, and bodies have their own timing when they are willing to deal with the emotions behind the beliefs.

What does that mean?  It means that consciously, one might recognize that he has a negative belief about money – say all rich people are selfish and greedy.  Putting together an affirmation to counter this belief will only be as successful as the body is willing to let go of the emotions around this belief.

For instance, if it were your family’s belief that rich people were selfish and greedy, and you wanted to be otherwise, either you might sabotage your efforts to better yourself, or become rich but also become selfish and greedy.   And either situation would persist in various strengths until that idea was purged emotionally from the body.

So suppose you have recognized the belief, and want to help purge a weakness from your being.  Sometimes just recognizing it will have such an emotional impact that the belief and the reality behind it vanishes simultaneously.  This is a relatively rare occurrence, but happens often enough so that the Tony Robbins and Warner Earhart types have made fortunes around this process.

I have studied both of their works, and appreciate the Psychology of Achievement, etc.  But one of the things they have going for them is that those that take their courses usually have some level of havingness going on for them.  What I mean is that their course is expensive, and the AFDC mother with five kids who is having difficulty providing groceries for her children is not likely to attend a Tony Robbins seminar or enroll in the Forum (last I heard, that was the latest version of EST/Lifespring of the 1980’s).

I have seen some pretty nasty undertows in those ‘seminars’.  One is control – of making those who do not produce results on the group mind timetable wrong;  the  EST/Lifespring/Forum bunch also used all kinds of psychological tools to create a cult like condition where recruits would work for free and get all kinds of rewards for bringing in more recruits – and those that refuse didn’t “get” the training.

Again, affirmations do not work that way.  For a lucky few, the release of a belief will produce immediate results.  For most, it is a gradual process, as the body slowly lets go of a negatively held emotion about the world in general and replaces it with a more positive one.     To make a person bad or wrong because they are not on the same timetable as his peers is, in my perspective, cruel and abusive.

For instance, years ago, a supposed ‘friend’ from the Lifespring training sent me a letter telling me that I was in ‘fantasy growth’ and that nothing in my reality was really changing.  I sent her letter back telling her that I needed friends to support me and not undermine me, wished her the best and dropped the relationship.

Before the friendship ended, she gave me a gift – a book, now out of print by Catherine Ponder, a Unity Minister.  It was called Pray and Grow Rich.  Her contention was that affirmations were a form of declarative prayer.  If prayer is a connection to one’s higher self or higher levels of being, then I have to say I agree with her.

So what are affirmations?  Most of you who are reading this page have worked with or dabbled with them, so I am probably preaching to the choir, but this is my take on them:

1.     They are declarations to the universe of one’s intention of reversing a belief (or beliefs) that is not in one’s best interest, that may have been true in the past, or may have been a lie one ‘bought’ from an outside source – such as parents, teachers, childhood friends, religion or culture.

2.     One must recognize the belief as not being true for you anymore.  The more you still buy into it emotionally, the less it will budge.  This is the problem with some of the growth groups – there is a saying is that the soul can change in two seconds, but it can take more than five years for the body to catch up. Usually this is because changing bodily emotions work on physical time.  (By the way working with a therapist acquainted with belief systems can hasten this process).

3.     One always uses an affirmation as if it were presently true. Speak “I have more money than I ever need”, not “I will have more money than I ever need”.  You are in the process of changing your present reality.

4.     Do not use negatives in your affirmations unless you are affirming your overcoming these negatives.  My first teacher gave out an affirmation that stated “I never think negatively”.  I tried using it and found myself besieged with negative thoughts (they had been there, but I was suddenly conscious of them, and felt incapable of dealing with all of them).  So I changed the affirmation to “I handle my negative thoughts constructively”, and immediately felt stronger. (Incidentally, the teacher who would not think negatively ended up dying from a brain tumor).

5.     Some people would argue the above point, but one needs to look at reality.  I have been working with affirmations for almost thirty years now, and still have negative thoughts.  They happen, but they do not run me, because I handle them constructively, and are a signpost that something in my life is amiss.  So, they are my friends that help me grow.

6.     By the way, do not use never ever always or forever in an affirmation.  They are fate tempters.  The universe is always changing – even the sun may not rise five billion years from now – so don’t try to control it.

7.     Use your imagination and try to bring in the feeling of that new reality.  My first teacher used to say “If the sale of a house produces a good feeling, then a good feeling can produce the sale of a house.”  Try to pull in the pleasure, but for no more than a minute.  That is sufficient.

8.     The more you affirm the new reality, the less grip it has on the body and the emotions.  Again, this process might take years, and you may see ‘layers’ of it fall away as time passes.  For instance I wish I could say that I instantaneously went from Working Class Poor single mother on the fringes of poverty to upper middle class overnight, but it wasn’t that simple. For one thing, a body with havingness issues is likely to not be able to retain anything they receive without some training on how to handle havingness.  For me, the process took 20 years, and I am still learning.

9.     Vocalizing the affirmation gives it more power than speaking it silently.  There is great power in sound.

10.        Adding one’s own tone to the affirmation increases the energy exponentially. This is my addition from my work with sound signatures.  My suggestion is to write a song with all your affirmations in it and sing it every day – out loud.

11.        Most of the time, affirmations will not work unless you make some kind of physical effort to change your reality at the same time.  This may be something as simple as stopping a thought, or walking into a store you felt you couldn’t afford to shop in and buying something you need on sale. When I lived in an apartment house, I used to walk through the nearby affluent neighborhoods and try to absorb the energy.  Today, I live in one of those neighborhoods.  How long did it take?  I took those walks in 1978, and this is 2007.  Sometimes persistence is our greatest ally.

12.        By the way, if you ever get in a place where your physical reality will not budge, your greatest physical effort might be the affirmations.  Sooner or later, the ‘breakthrough’ happens, sometimes with enough suddenness to make you breathless.

The following song I call Dori’s affirmations.  This is what I sing as I take a walk every day to ‘shake loose’ and change weaknesses I used to have, or still have.  The lyrics are for me, as well as the music I added to it.

I wish anyone listening to my song to understand that they can use my song, or my music, but if it does not fit his or her energy patterns, the weaknesses he/she needs to reverse, or his or her personal tone, it will be less effective than if he/she creates one’s one song.

                                      Dori’s Affirmations

Chorus:

Affirmations are like daily prayer I either sing or state

They focus all my energy on blessings I create.

I have the money for what I please, assisting others too

It flows to me with joy and ease, and helps my dreams come true!

(Since my class in MC2, I have updated the above affirmation from having more money than I'll ever need to having the money for what I please - I recently realized I was manifesting a 'lack of financial freedom' which I am in process of reversing.  As long as I have the money to do what I like and be able to help others, having more than I need seems unnecessary).

 Chorus.....

I run my business my expert best, and all my ventures sell

With greater goodness it stays blessed, and shows where I excel.

(I still have much to learn about running a business, want to keep its energy on promoting the 'greater good' and make sure it expresses the best I can be)

Now, when I sing this, all but the chorus will be done in English.  At the end, I will be doing a rendition in Ektavasi, which is my ‘sound equation’ of the English words at the moment I sing them.

        I am now learning the chords to the song before I record it digitally on my computer;

        Ashunayetya!

Beginning Comments:

I am still dealing with the theme of affirmations and beliefs.  There was one point that I did not make in the essay I wrote last Friday, and, that is, that affirmations, much like any liturgy (which they are to some degree), are meaningless unless they come from both the heart and the mind.  Otherwise, they are simply an intellectual exercise.

The most important point about all of this is that you will seldom get what you want; you will get what you expect.  I see expectations as emotions, tied to belief.  For instance, if you would like a caring relationship, but have had nothing but controlling relationships, unless something changes, you will pull in a controlling relationship, no matter how much you affirm the contrary.

To the degree that the heart/body ‘expects’ or ‘is comfortable’ with controlling relationships, this will be true. The degree of emotional expectation will overrule what you get.   Or -- you might see the behavior of those around you as controlling, whether they are or not, because this is what you expect to see.

The following is something I wrote half in trance, half in C1, sometime between 1982 and 1990.  This is about a belief on having value (or self-esteem).  Some time around 1982, I ‘hit the belief’ that I felt I had no value, and later on decided to explore the repercussions of that belief –  though the degree I held that belief was a little less extreme than the following:

Beginning Time:  N/A   Location: Minnesota (unknown)

Dictation:

“If you feel what you own is valueless, you cannot receive anything of value.

If you feel what you do is valueless, you cannot contribute anything of value.

If you feel who you are is valueless, existence has no value. "

When people hold this belief to the extreme, some of them become suicidal.

Beginning Comments:

To create anything positive, one must also understand one's own 'dark side', and be able to recognize it and deal with it effectively in others.  This does not mean being in judgment (which is a dark quality), but being in caring, which helps you deal with issues from your positive side and might assist the others (if they choose) to move out of their own darkness.

I have heard many say 'how can you care for that sleeze who has done....???'  Caring has nothing to do with agreement; it has more to do with remembering that that person is also a living human being.  Caring may also bring in kindness, which is not always made of bubble gum and candy canes.  Stopping others from doing harm, either to self or others is a form of kindness; if one can do so without creating further harm, all the better.  The majority of people do harm because they have bought in to the negative judgments about self they have either created on their own, or gained from others.  To not buy in to 'name calling' even those who are doing enormous harm, but wish for them their healthiest path, whatever that looks like, may be as caring as you can get.

One of the major lessons I learned, early on, in my  teens and twenties, is not to wish on anyone which you would not wish on yourself.   During that time,  I hate to admit that I wished some horrible things on people who I felt had been unkind to me.  Those horrible things happened to these people, but, in due course, they also happened to me, and with more intensity.

At this point,  I have a prayer for all those who are stumbling on their path. And that is "May they find their healthiest path before they are too sick to walk it."   This kind of prayer keeps me from any level of control - for I am not defining (nor am I capable of defining) what their healthiest path may be.  That path may be something I disagree with but works with their psyche and their bodily timing.

   Now about evil:

The other day, I was thinking of something I learned in my first You-create-your-own-reality class.

             It goes as follows:

To be right, you must something wrong.

To be morally right, you must condemn another.

To that, I added (some years ago)

If you condemn another, then you can justify depriving it of life, liberty and/or the pursuit of happiness.

And to that I added a couple of days ago:

Deprivation of life liberty and/or the pursuit of happiness causes Harm, which is a major tool of Evil.

My psychic classes taught that Evil is actually a void in the continuum, which has a kind of sentience, but needs the energy of others to continue because it has none itself.  Harm is one of its major tools because it stops the flow of energy – it immobilizes people and things, and when they are immobilized, the void can use their energy.

There are some that state that evil is the absence of good, but our teachers  (nonphysical beings who came to this dimension to study evil) says it is more of an absence of energy  - like a black hole that tries to suck in whatever energy it can.

They also said that it was, more or less, a local phenomena which did not exist in higher vibratory rates – that it was the unraveling of energy into its two components – good and evil, which looks very different in the higher vibratory rates where it is not unraveled.

My experience suggests that the unraveling only goes about as far as Level 26, at decreasing intensity, and I would like to check on this with one of my sources.

Beginning Time:  Not recorded  Location: Loveland, Co

Dictation:

"Ashunayetya!

The unraveling that you speak of can exist beyond the level that you have mentioned, but it needs to be very cagey to do so.  Most of the time, it is discovered quickly, and the universal caring that exists in Level 27 and beyond quickly mends the rift.

In your OOB  travels to the higher vibratory rates, those of you who still have bodies might be accosted by some of this, if you did not have guides and protectors that watch over you while you are far from your normal radiation.

This is a good question, for we are hoping that, as some of the Levels beneath 27 meld into oneness, and caring in those places becomes more important than belief or control, that the unraveling will also begin to mend itself.

      Ashunayetya and Blessings,

             Andre and the Master "

As I dictated the message,  I felt an enormous surge of caring come over me.  According to my teachers,  caring is the greatest disruptor of evil, for it cannot exist around caring.
